We have been exploring the city - all in walking distance. Finding that while the Colloseum and the Vatican are staggering - its the natural ambience of this place that holds the charm.
I tried to to get a photo of the wedding fiat bambina for Phillip, but the locals kept getting in the way -
last shot succesfull.
We went the Vatican yesterday morning but the crowds of tourists were unbelievable. The Vatican museum has miles of incredible statues, paintings - all housed in mind boggling buildings. Came out mucho boggled.
We went to the Brisbane Museum of Art and were blown away by a bronze of Perseus Arming - Young Perseus looking over his shoulder at his winged sandals and holding a sword. He was given four gifts to fight the Medusa. Winged sandals, a Cap of invisibility, a nasty sword and a highly polished sheild. He looked so young and vunerable. But then we saw the after statue in the Vatican - Perseus victorious! Medusa turned men to stone with her gaze - but the polished shield did the trick.

The smaller places - little churches have their own charm which I think I prefer. Less is more in the midst of such richness
It feels like being an archeologist just by walking around Rome. What is brilliant most of it is free.
Tomorrow we catch the train to Bari on our way to start our Puglia cycling holiday.
We have thrown coins in the fountain to make sure we come back to Rome.
